The choir will perform an end of term concert at St John’s Church on Thursday 21st July. As usual this is primarily for family and friends of choir members, but as we now meet at the church which has more space this event will be open to others. Light refreshments will be offered. Donations to charity are requested. More details will be posted later.
The choir has been asked to sing at Churchinford’s celebrations and beacon lighting to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on June 2nd. This is an evening event. More information in due course.
The choir has been asked to sing in the afternoon at the Christmas event in Wellington Park. The performance starts at 2.30pm. The information for singers taking part is now in the Members’ Area
This provides an opportunity at the last session before Christmas for choir members to sing all the songs they have learned during the term to their families and friends. The performance will be from 8pm to 9pm, after which we will offer refreshments. In order to be Covid-safe, we ask all members to give us the contact details of their guests in order that they can be contacted if needed should anyone in the choir or audience becomes Covid-positive.
For some years the choir has enjoyed singing at Carols Under the Stars at the Monument, so we are pleased to be asked to perform again this year. The event was cancelled in 2020 but has now been confirmed for 2021. We will be there, rain or shine!

The last year has been like no other for all of us. We started in Autumn 2019 with lots of events lined up and by the beginning of March had managed to sing at a variety of locations to many different audiences.
5th October – Apple Day at Sheppy’s Cider
8th November – Big Sing, Edgar Hall, Somerton
1st December – Dillington House Winter Fayre
6th December – Dunster by Candlelight
12th December – Xmas Concert at Wellington Arts Centre
1st March 2020 – Choir Convention, Bristol
But this promising start came to a stop with the beginning of lockdown. Since then, we have met virtually on Zoom, and occasionally in the open air at Wellington Rugby Club. Our efforts to keep singing can be heard through our YouTube Zoom Choir. It is available on Facebook and on the Listen page of this website
As a result of the coronavirus lockdown, all choir events have been cancelled. In the meantime the choir meets regularly using Zoom
Thirty nine members of the choir will sing at the annual South West Choir Convention at St George’s, Brandon Hill, Bristol on 1st March 2010. Final details for participants are in the Members Area
The first choir session of 2020 will have a Swedish theme. We will be joined by Kajsa Norrby who leads a Natural Voice choir in Sweden. She will teach us some Swedish songs. In the break we will be able to enjoy some Swedish biscuits and treats. Let’s have a full turn-out to start our New Year of singing together!
At the end of the term, the choir holds an informal concert for family and friends to perform the new songs they have learned during the term. This year the Choir will be performing at The Arts Centre.
The Choir is very pleased to have been invited to take part in the Dunster by Candlelight Christmas celebration and will be performing twice.
The choir has been invited to sing at this event at Dillington House near Ilminster on Sunday 1st December and will be performing at 12.30pm
The concert will take place at 7.30pm in Edgar Hall, Somerton when a number of Somerset based community choirs will perform. In addition to Blackdown Community Choir, there will be choirs from Bridgwater, Chard, Martock, Somerton and Taunton showcasing their own songs as well as a grand finale when all the choirs will perform together. All proceeds will be donated to St Margaret’s Hospice.
