Carols under the Stars, Wellington monument

The choir were honoured to be invited to once again lead the singing around the bonfire on a night before Christmas. On Friday, 2 December, on a crisp and even evening, we invited anyone FREE to join with us,  the ANOB and Blackdown Hills Association on a candlelit path to the roaring bonfire high on the Blackdown Hills. The candlelit path with added flares made the walk to the bonfire most magical. We were honoured to have the presence of the Mayor and the local MP Rebecca Howe, who spoke to the appreciative audience of the £1 million  granted for the maintenance of the Monument. There is now more money to obtain but hopefully this will be found, to make our iconic structure safe for years to come. Although the stars were lacking, there was a certain starry atmosphere around!

Everyone joined in the carols and listened to the choir sing some of their repertoire. Uffculme WI provided hot drinks and refreshments and everyone, young and old , enjoyed the evening very much. Thank you to all who came.
