Successful taster workshop to re-launch choir

After a successful song workshop in September during Wellington Festival Fortnight, Wellington’s original community choir has been re-launched at the Baptist Centre with 45 people signed up for a new term of unaccompanied harmony singing. Following the retirement in June of the previous musical director Gabrielle Newman-Turner, who started the choir 8 years ago, a new leader had to be found. Caroline Rigby has been running Chard’s community choir Meeting Voices for 10 years and has enthusiastically taken up the challenge. “Gabrielle has led this choir successfully for many years and will be a hard act to follow but I have been delighted with the response to the taster. I am excited to be working with such a friendly group of people and hearing the sound of so many voices singing together”.
