Welcome to Blackdown Community Choir

The choir meets for the pleasure and joy of sharing music together.

It is for everyone, irrespective of musical knowledge or experience. There are no auditions.

It is well suited to those who have never sung before and to people who love singing but can’t read music, as well as regular singers looking to sing an exciting range of songs in a relaxed group. It's easy to join in and find your voice by singing along side others.

Singing in the choir is fun, good for your health and takes away the stresses of the week.

Our members com from Wellington, Taunton and villages right across the Blackdown Hills, the Quantocks, West Somerset, as well as East and Mid Devon.

Singing with Blackdown Community Choir offers the chance to experience and be part of the wonderful sound of unaccompanied harmony singing.

The choir is an open to everyone over 16 – beginners and experienced singers alike. We are a friendly group who enjoy listening to and learning songs from around the world – folk, gospel, pop, African, Georgian – as well as traditional songs from these shores. Although we are not a performance choir and mainly sing for fun, we do give some performances for family and friends. We occasionally contribute to other events and occasions, principally to raise money for good causes. We have been involved in exchange workshops with choirs from other parts of the country, making new friends and learning new songs. We sometimes have opportunities to join with other choirs at festivals and singing events both locally and further afield. All you need to bring is your voice and enthusiasm.
